From 2016 - 2020 I worked as the Chief of Environmental Policy for Berkeley City Councilmember Cheryl Davila. My work included the Fossil Free Fast Resolution, Climate Emergency Declaration, End of Sale of Combustion Engines Ordinance, Nature's Rights Resolution, and Just Transition Resolution.
During these 4 years, I got a comprehensive education on how city government works. I spent many hours in city council and comission meetings, working with several coalitions focusing on environmental policy to draft each item, and attending city commission meetings. I worked with numerous city council members from across the region as we launched a regional initiative to initiate regional climate mobilization in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was an incredible time learn the good, bad and ugly of local politics. We were able to team up with a wide cross section of people and organizations working to enact social change. Those organizations include; Richmond Progressive Alliance, 350.org, 350 Bay Area, The Climate Mobilization, Movement Rights, Movement Generations, United Nations Association, West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project, Fossil Free CA, Communities for a Better Environment, as well elected officials and sustainability staff throughout the region.
Policy and political work is a passion and love and I bring this experience into all the work I do.
